PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY (PDT)
PDT is a revolutionary new way to treat mild to severe sun damaged, blemished and aged skin on all areas of the body. By using PDT's non-invasive light technology, doctors can now treat a range of skin conditions in a fast, relatively painless and affordable way with minimal side effects and downtime.
PDT provides exceptional cosmetic results, bringing new life to aged skin in areas that in the past have been hard to treat such as the decolletage and hands.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
A naturally occurring lotion called '5 ALA' (Aminolevulnic Acid 20%) is applied to the affected area. 5 ALA is a photosensitiser which produces a form of oxygen that makes cells more receptive to light and kills nearby cells when exposed to a specific wavelength of light. When applied to the skin, 5 ALA is absorbed into abnormal or damaged cells. Once absorbed, the LED light source is focused on the treated area for a period of time. When exposed to light, the abnormal skin cells are destroyed to reveal new, fresh, healthy skin cells.
Many patient's report a stinging or sharp tingling sensation.
The average treatment time is approximately 30 minutes plus incubation time. Your doctor may recommend more than one treatment, depending on your individual skin and level of damage.
